NEWS & EXHIBITIONS

Following a year of challenges along the northern coast of New South Wales that included severe flooding, Mist Gallery in Cabarita Beach, NSW, is running a stunning summer salon supporting lots of artists whose previously exhibited work has been little seen. The exhibition opens December 3, 2022 and continues throughout January 2023.

I’m delighted that my large oil landscape, ‘Midsummer Dawn, Kangaroo Ground’ is hanging in the fine company of artworks from an amazing group of Australian artists. The artworks are also available to view online.

For all enquiries please contact Helen at Mist Gallery, see contact details below.

‘Landscapes of Nillumbik’ Exhibition

GALLERY 7SIX5
765D ELTHAM-YARRA GLEN RD, WATSON'S CREEK, VICTORIA

Opening event January 14, 2022 5pm to 8pm Invitation Only
FRIDAY TO SUNDAY 10-4PM, January 14 -16, 21 - 23, 28 - 30
FRIDAY TO Sunday 10-4PM, February 4 - 6, 11 - 13

I’m delighted to have been invited to take part in this exhibition at Gallery 7six5 in Watsons Creek, Victoria. I’m honoured to have my work hung alongside an amazing group of Nillumbik artists including Nerina Lascelles, Fionna Madigan, Jacqui Hacansson, Benny Archer, and Tim Read with Linda Macaulay.

I’m exhibiting two large oil paintings framed in natural oak based on plein air charcoal drawings completed around the Nillumbik district in winter 2021. Back in the studio I called on my memories of summer heatwaves that march across the land, when the day dawns hot, the paddocks are parched and we are all on bushfire alert hoping not to hear the wail of a CFA siren. In fact now we are in mid-summer and experiencing these very same conditions.

The exhibition will be open to the public on the dates above and hopefully will also be online. There will be an invitation only opening event on Friday January 14, 5-8pm. If you would like to be on the guest list to have first viewing of the exhibition please message me on 0425 821 869. Numbers are limited!

I look forward to hopefully seeing you during the exhibition.

Purchase enquiries can be made to me on 0425 821 869 or directly to Benny and Lisa at Gallery 7six5 on 0429 465 582

For any other enquiries please message or email me.

Nillumbik Artists Exhibition

GALLERY 7SIX5

Friday to Sunday 10-4pm, March 26, 27 & 28
Friday to Monday 10-4pm, April 2, 3 4 5

Rolling exhibitions featuring Nillumbik artists are now underway at the delightful Gallery 7six5 in Watsons Creek. I'm participating in the Zone B artists exhibition with these four en plein air oil paintings created in the Grampians National Park in Victoria. They were painted during late winter and are lovely textural works that depict the misty rainy weather I experienced at the time; the makings of very atmospheric work but not the most comfortable conditions for working outdoors!

If you are interested in these works, click the images below for enlargements and more details including sizes and pricing.

Purchase enquiries can be made to me at hello@micheleowen.com.au or directly to Benny and Lisa at Gallery 7six5 on 0429 465 582

Losing My Place

STUDIO & ONLINE EXHIBITION
WATTLE GLEN, VICTORIA

January 22 - 31, 2021

I’m excited to announce I’m holding a summer exhibition, Losing My Place at my beautiful studio/gallery in Wattle Glen, less than one hour’s drive from Melbourne CBD.

Losing My Place is a series of small oil paintings commenced during and in response to my experience of Melbourne’s stage 4 lockdown. For several months Melbourne and regional Victoria were separated by a ‘Ring of Steel’ and Melbourne residents were restricted to a 5km radius of their homes. In a time of isolation and loss, I reflected on the importance of regional and rural places to restore our wellbeing.

Losing My Place is a recollection of memories of the places I love and longed to visit again. A series of fleeting moments of picnic spots, country drives, holidays and day trips recalled from a lifetime of experiences in the Victorian countryside. These small works created a tiny lens to explore the spaciousness, glowing light and energetic hum of the Victorian landscape.

This exhibition is a love letter to Victoria and a small tribute to the huge sacrifices that were made by Melbournians in 2020.
