Dare To Dream Group Exhibition

‘DARE TO DREAM is an exploration of the connection between the real and imagined. It’s a chance to look forward, and to dream and aspire for a better future. The works range from representative to imaginative, and inspire a sense of hope and betterment. Some artists have used the landscape to evoke freedom and openness whilst other artists have used symbolic images to suggest new beginnings and good luck. The collection is a rich tapestry of works that unashamedly draws on our need to dare and dream’.

Artist Statement

My dreams are always inspired by the Australian countryside…how I can explore the unknown, experience visiting and living in regional areas and soak in the essence of everything that makes our landscape so evocative and a wellspring for my creativity.

The three artworks on exhibition were inspired by my love of vast expanses of countryside where I feel most free and able to be myself. I love to capture light reflecting on hillsides and filtering through bushland that can never be fully defined by solid form. I have used a golden palette to create the glow of sun kissed land during our blazing summers in Victoria and New South Wales.

‘Midsummer Dawn, Kangaroo Ground’
Oil on stretched canvas framed in natural Tasmanian Oak
125cm high x 125cm wide
$3,350

This painting is inspired by the rolling hills along the Warrandyte to Kangaroo Ground Rd in Kangaroo Ground, Victoria. It was commenced on location with plein air charcoal sketches. The painting was completed in my studio in the late winter of 2021 at a time when I was longing for warmer weather and the spaciousness of post lockdown life. Gates and tracks have become a familiar motif in my work. An invitation to enter and explore the unknown.
